What is LegitScript certification, and does it actually mean a pharmacy is safe?

LegitScript certification is a private review of a healthcare business against its standards, including licensing, operations, and advertising. It is a useful signal, but it is not a government license, drug approval, or guarantee that every medication is safe. 1, 2

A copied badge can be misleading. Verify the business through the certifier’s current records and independently check the pharmacy’s state license.

Certification does not decide whether a particular treatment is right for you. The prescriber and dispensing pharmacy still need to provide clinically appropriate care and clear product information.

What does certification examine?

LegitScript’s healthcare standards cover licensing and registration, compliance, patient services, privacy, and transparent advertising. The certification applies to a business’s adherence to that program.

What should I check beyond a badge?

Confirm the clinician and pharmacy identities, prescription requirement, U.S. contact information, full charges, and access to follow-up. Check the actual website domain rather than assuming a similarly named site is covered.
